Moving Personal Belongings Across Europe
Moving to another country involves many important decisions, and one of the biggest is how to transport your personal belongings safely and smoothly. We offer several moving options across Europe so that each customer can choose the solution that best matches their budget, timing, and service expectations.
Our company arranges the transport of personal belongings throughout the European Union, as well as to Switzerland, Norway, and the United Kingdom. We handle both small shipments and full household moves, offering three main transport options: groupage, palletized shared loads, and dedicated vehicles.
Whichever option you choose, we aim to make the process clear, safe, and easy to understand from the very beginning.
Groupage Removals
Groupage is the most cost-effective option for moving personal belongings within Europe. It is ideal for customers who want to reduce moving costs and are flexible with delivery time.
With this option, we collect your belongings from your address and bring them to our temporary storage facility. Your shipment remains there until enough loads are combined to form a route. Once the vehicle is fully consolidated, your belongings travel together with shipments from other customers to the destination country.
Items are usually stored for around 2 to 4 weeks before departure. Storage is free of charge in this case, which makes groupage especially attractive for planned moves.
The average delivery time for groupage removals within Europe is 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the route, distance, and how quickly the vehicle is consolidated.
One of the key advantages of groupage removals is that they can include a more complete service. In many cases, delivery to the final address, unloading, and carrying items into the property can be arranged. This makes groupage a practical solution for customers who want a balance between cost and convenience.
Shared Load / Palletized Transport
Shared load transport is a faster option than groupage. It is suitable for customers who want shorter delivery times and a more standard shipping format.
With this service, we collect the goods from the customer, bring them to the warehouse, place them on a pallet, and then dispatch them to the delivery address without the longer waiting period typical of groupage transport.
The average transit time is 4 to 15 working days, which makes this option a good choice for boxes, suitcases, smaller furniture items, and other personal belongings.
It is important to note that this is a more standard logistics service. Delivery is made to the address, but loading, unloading inside the property, and carrying items into the apartment or house are not included.
The cost of pallet packing is 120 EUR per 1.2 m³.
Dedicated Vehicle
A dedicated vehicle is the fastest and most flexible option. With this service, the vehicle is reserved exclusively for one customer. Your belongings do not wait for consolidation and are not combined with other shipments.
This is the best solution for urgent moves, larger household relocations, furniture transport, or customers who want maximum control over timing.
We offer several vehicle sizes depending on the volume of the move:
up to 1 tonne / up to 15 m³
up to 3 tonnes / up to 30 m³
up to 7.5 tonnes / up to 50 m³
Transit time is usually calculated based on an estimated driving distance of up to 800 km per day, which gives customers a fairly accurate idea of delivery timing.
The cost of a dedicated vehicle is usually calculated by distance and starts from 1 to 3 EUR per kilometre, depending on the route, season, vehicle type, and service requirements.
Which Option Should You Choose?
If your main priority is keeping costs low, groupage is usually the best option. It is ideal for planned moves where timing is flexible.
If you want your belongings delivered faster, shared load transport is often the better choice. It offers shorter transit times in a more standard format.
If you need the fastest and most flexible solution, a dedicated vehicle is the best fit. This option is especially suitable for urgent moves, larger volumes, or customers who want a more tailored service.
Comparison Table
| Transport Option | Advantages | Limitations |
|---|---|---|
| Groupage | Most affordable option; free warehouse storage; delivery with unloading and carrying inside can be arranged; ideal for planned moves | Longer delivery times; departure depends on route consolidation |
| Shared Load / Palletized Transport | Faster delivery; predictable transit times; suitable for small and medium shipments | Pallet packing is required; no carrying inside the property; no unloading service inside |
| Dedicated Vehicle | Fastest option; exclusive vehicle; flexible scheduling; ideal for large or urgent moves; no waiting for consolidation | Higher cost compared to other options |
Example Prices and Transit Times: Lisbon to Munich
Below are approximate prices and delivery times for the route Lisbon to Munich.
For groupage and shared loads, prices are shown per 1 m³.
For dedicated vehicles, pricing is usually calculated per kilometre.
| Transport Option | Estimated Delivery Time | Approximate Price |
|---|---|---|
| Groupage | 4–6 weeks | from 450 to 750 EUR per 1 m³ |
| Shared Load / Palletized Transport | 4–15 working days | from 380 to 650 EUR per 1 m³ + 120 EUR pallet packing per 1.2 m³ |
| Dedicated Vehicle | approx. 3–4 days | from 1 to 3 EUR per km |
The distance between Lisbon and Munich is approximately 2,300 km, so the estimated cost of a dedicated vehicle may range from:
- from 2,300 EUR at 1 EUR/km
- up to 6,900 EUR at 3 EUR/km
The final price depends on the shipment volume, vehicle size, loading and unloading addresses, floor access, lift availability, urgency, and any additional services required.
What Is Included in the Price and What Is Charged Separately?
The basic transport price is generally calculated on a kerbside-to-kerbside basis.
This means that if the goods are located on the ground floor and access is straightforward, collection may be included in the price. If carrying items up or down stairs is required, this is charged separately.
Additional charges may include:
- carrying items up or down stairs — 5 EUR per floor
- loading and unloading work — from 50 EUR per hour
- professional packing — from 50 EUR per hour + packing materials
- customs clearance for Switzerland, Norway, and the UK — from 150 EUR per declaration
Please note that driver assistance is not included in the basic transport price.
